Nancy serves as Executive Director of JIFLA, where she leads the organization’s operations, including client services, donor engagement, and community relations. She works closely with the Board of Directors and volunteer committees to expand awareness of JIFLA’s impact and build partnerships across Georgia.
Since joining JIFLA in 2016, Nancy has helped strengthen the organization’s reach and deepen its role as a trusted resource for financial support within the community.
A native of Virginia, Nancy earned a degree in Economics from the University of Virginia. She currently serves as Vice President of the International Association of Jewish Free Loans and is a member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta Engagement Committee.
Stephanie joined the JIFLA team in 2020 and leads marketing and communications, helping to amplify the organization’s mission and strengthen engagement across the community. She also supports internal operations, contributing to efficient systems and day-to-day organizational effectiveness.
Prior to JIFLA, Stephanie worked with nonprofit and academic organizations including Harvard University, Georgia State University, and the Jewish Fertility Foundation, bringing a diverse background in communications and nonprofit operations.
A native of New York, Stephanie has called Atlanta home since 1997. She holds a degree in Mass Communication from Boston University and a certificate in Technical Writing from the University of Georgia. She continues to build her skills through ongoing professional development with the Georgia Center for Nonprofits.
Julie joined JIFLA in 2026 as Loan Manager, where she works closely with clients throughout the loan application process and ensures submissions are fully prepared for review by the Loan Committee. Her role is central to JIFLA’s mission, helping clients navigate the process with confidentiality, dignity, and care.
She brings a global perspective and deep experience in education, nonprofit work, and community service. Julie previously served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa, where she taught English as a Foreign Language. Upon returning to the U.S., she worked in the Peace Corps Regional Recruiting Office in Atlanta, supporting others pursuing service opportunities. She later spent 13 years as Assistant Director of Jewish Healthcare International, coordinating medical missions that expanded access to care in communities around the world.
Julie earned a degree in Foreign Affairs and French from the University of Virginia. She has also been actively engaged in Jewish adult education for over 15 years and continues to participate in learning and community programs across Atlanta.
Carla joined JIFLA in 2025 as Loan Intake Coordinator, where she serves as the first point of contact for individuals beginning the loan application process. She supports clients with care and professionalism, helping them access the information and resources they need to move forward with a JIFLA loan application, or connecting them with appropriate community resources when needed.
She brings more than 25 years of experience in early childhood education, having taught at Atlanta Jewish Academy and Torah Day School. In addition to her work at JIFLA, Carla continues her passion for education as a tutor.
Originally from South Africa, Carla immigrated with her family to Atlanta in 1997 and has been an active member of the local Jewish community ever since.
Danny is a first generation American born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Danny moved to Atlanta in 1997 upon graduating Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University Honors Accounting Program to work at Ernst & Young. Danny joined his family’s mortgage business in 2006 with a niche in working with Physicians. Danny has a passion for financial literacy and has traveled around the country resenting home financing to graduating medical school students and residents. Danny also currently serves on the Board of Torah Day School of Atlanta where his children attend.
Avi Binstock is the Managing Director of Fund Accounting for Balbec Capital and is responsible for accounting and reporting for the firm’s funds. He joined Balbec in 2023 bringing 16 years of experience in the asset management industry. Avi was a Managing Director at Ernst & Young in the assurance practice specializing in asset management clients, with a focus on private equity, credit fund, hedge fund, real estate, timberland, and business development companies. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Accounting and Finance. Avi is married and has four children.
Debbie has a background in human resources and financial management and has worked professionally for many years in the synagogue world, most recently as Executive Director at Congregation Ariel, and previously as Executive Director at Congregation Beth Tefillah. She was an active volunteer at the former Greenfield Hebrew Academy and Yeshiva Atlanta schools (now AJA) when her children were younger, as well as serving in many volunteer capacities at her synagogue, Congregation Beth Tefillah. She also served on the Boards of both Yeshiva Atlanta and Beth Tefillah. Debbie recently retired and is enjoying having time to spend with her family. She and her husband have five children and many beautiful grandchildren scattered around the country!
Brian Levy is a Partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP in Atlanta, where he practices creditors’ rights and bankruptcy law. He represents financial institutions, lenders, landlords, and other creditors in loan restructurings, bankruptcy matters, and related litigation.
Brian brings deep expertise in financial and restructuring law, helping guide complex financial situations toward resolution. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from William & Mary Law School.
Brian has called Atlanta home since 2006. He is married to a native Atlantan and has two children who attend The Epstein School.
Richard Solomon began volunteering with JIFLA in 2022 and joined JIFLA’s Board of Directors as Chairman of Development in early 2024, bringing to the board decades of experience as a financial counselor, both at the head of his own firm and with Northwestern Mutual, where he worked for more than 30 years. He has received the designations of both Chartered Financial Consultant and Certified Financial Planner. Richard is past president of the Georgia State B’nai Brith Association, and he has been involved in the Atlanta Jewish community since the 1970s, when he moved here from Brookline, Massachusetts.
Jonny has volunteered with JIFLA’s Loan Committee since 2020 and serves as its Chair, supporting the review and evaluation of loan applications.
He is Deputy Director of National Community Facilities Lending at the Low-Income Investment Fund (LIIF), a Community Development Financial Institution that invests in historically under-resourced communities. In this role, he helps finance charter schools, health centers, early childhood education centers, and other essential community facilities.
Jonny earned his B.A. from McGill University and his M.P.A. from American University. He is also a CFA charter holder.
Laura serves as Immediate Past President of JIFLA and has been involved with the organization since its inception as a founding Board and Loan Committee member. She became Board Chair and President in 2015 and helped guide a period of significant organizational growth, including a more than five-fold increase in annual loans and loan volume, the development of a formal committee structure, and the implementation of JIFLA’s organizational partnership strategy.
She is a Senior Vice President in the Commercial Banking Group at Bank of America, with a long career in corporate and investment banking. Laura earned her B.B.A. from the University of Georgia and her M.B.A. from Columbia University.
Beyond her professional and volunteer leadership, Laura has been deeply engaged in the community, including 10 years as a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlanta and service on the Executive Board of Yeshiva Atlanta High School (now Atlanta Jewish Academy).
Laura has three grown children—Rachel, Dahlia, and Micah Travis—and four grandchildren. She has been married to Reed Travis for 45 years.
Jay is president of Lib Properties, a mortgage brokerage firm. He is a native of Atlanta, married with 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren. His many volunteer activities include serving on the Executive Board of the Atlanta Community Jewish Center, the Jewish Federation Board, the Executive Board of Torah Day School, and President of Temina High School. He greatly enjoys volunteering in the disabilities department of the Marcus Jewish Community Center.
